On a more serious note, (which made me regret spending RM300 at IKEA), I've been wanting to blog on the fuel price hike up.
Everybody knows we can't subsidize the fuel anymore. Watching the commodities closely for the past four years, I know that it is absurd that we are paying so low for the fuel while the other countries are suffering much.
What made me mad is nothing has been done to hamper the high cost for the rakyat. The government knows that for the past four years, in fact, since the Gulf War had started, the fuel price will hike up. What they have been doing is subsidizing it so that they won't lose so bad in the last election (tapi kalah jugak). When they can't no longer afford it, what they do is increasing it little by little.
Not telling the truth, or rather not facing the truth, will always backfire.
If Malaysian government was brave enough to face the truth, they would have buck up the transportation system, encourage more on non-fuel vehicles and other initiatives that people could use years ago. If these were done earlier, much earlier, people won't be suffering this bad.
And now, after a few weeks of announcing the hike up, I still DON'T SEE the real initiatives coming from the government. They still want to 'look good' by telling people that 'let's face it together'. Governemtn servant will be getting their monthly cheque splitted into two cheques which will only encourage them to spend instead of saving. Aku sungguh tidak faham.
None has been said about bucking up the public transportation. Could KL get as good as Sydney, where the routine buses came every 20 minutes during non peak hours and 10 during peak time?
Forget train. That will take up years. Dah terlambat kalau nak buat train lagi, yang subang jaya tu pun aku tengok tak siap siap lagi.
Buck up your buses routes.
Increase parking fees around busy areas so that people will take bus.
Encourage university students to use bike (BASIKAL, GEREK, SPEDA) by banning motorbikes and cars. I always feel that our local univ students are more luxurious that the overseas'. Omputeh dulu asyik kayuh basikal je gi class, kete tinggal rumah. Ini budak budak uni kita, ini lah masa nak cari awek kalau ada kereta.
Increase parking lots around train station. Or better still, increase (about 500%) the buses routes to the train station.
(I still regret that RM300 spent at IKEA. Should've spent that much on hair treatment instead)
