Yesterday was The Man's Papa Inaugural Speech. Was clueless on what was
it about but took leave 3 weeks in advance, by the way.
You see, Papa is in the different industry which I personally feel, is
alieniating the world I'm living. The academicians talk a different
languange (I feel so), hold different heads above their heads, look at
us with colored-hairs with frowns and jaw-dropping mouth. Papa however
has been in the management side of the industry for the past few years,
is excellent at it, which made me feel like, hmmmm at least we are
talking in the same language here!
Expectation was the talk will be full of bespectacled men and women, and
the science terminologies (which always been that weird greek two words
in italics), tiny things like tiny strings of DNA or culture, enzymes
(which I could never differentiate any). Thinking of that, I carefully
choose a great book into my purse for me to duck my head into during
those conversations of yulimea hyphoemia something something.
But it was totally different!
He started his presentation with an eye catching picture he took from
the recent paper, an old farmer sitting down crying besides three dead
cows. From then on, my eyes were locked on those screens. Words chosen
were simple, yet interesting. He took great effort in explaining into
great lengths on the effect and seriousness of the problem. He truly
believed in Pak Lah's vision on creating a country owning a hub for
agriculture and explain that this can be achieved only if we take
serious effort in eliminating the problem. He had a soft way of saying
that, okay so that the problem is not as huge as the bird flu but if we
don't do something about it, the vision will be nicely casted in stones
instead of in the real view.
It made me appreciate the work of such.
His humbleness, albeit his title of a Professor, was clearly defined
when he refered to the works done by the students as a 'bantuan' (help
and assistance) instead of some projects they must do to get some
passing marks on some papers.
The Speech was inspiring because it comes purely from the heart.
**Was supposed to blog this on 25th Feb.**
