Friends in Need

Elemti26's wife was 8 months pregnant when I read his blog about the conversation they had on the frequent visits to HKL. They have been frequenting the HKL seeing the Hematologist and that prompted me to answer on why much check ups. Turned out to be that she had this lymphoma cancer. And they found out that when she was around 6 or 7 months in pregnancy, the doctors urged her to remove and go for chemo session straight away but there is no guarantee that the baby would be safe. So both of them braced the days waiting for the baby to be just old enough and be delivered. Alhamdullilah, beautiful baby girl was delivered (caesarean's) around mid February and she went on chemo right away one week after that. Now she's home, resting with the mom around to help with the newborn and the 3 years old brother.

When I first get to know about it, I gave elemti a call. My heart dropped and tears swelled up in both of my eyes. Cancer has always been instrumental to me. [read my previous post: not gonna write again, it would take so much energy from me]. I see how people fight with cancer, and the people around them taking the fights (chemo, endless needles, blood transfusion, frequent visits and long queue at the hospital) at their own courses or ways. It's painful to see both the patient, and even more painful to see the people around them, actually.

At times like this, what can I offer a friend like him? If a friend coming to see me to have some cash loaned, I'd be happy to shove him a few notes knowing that his burden will be lessened. But what would I offer to a friend in need like this?

May God grant them strength.
