The Appraisal Season Has Begun.

Everybody has rated everybody. The bosses have been rated by the MD. I and Ida have been rated by Asihin, in rush, last Saturday after I ‘proved’ that I have been doing work until late morning for five straight days! Azmady had done all his technicians.

What happened after everybody is rated? Basically, the Competencies will determine the salary increment and the Key Performance Indicator (KPI) will determine the bonus. You’ll be rated either 1 (very bad) 2 (average) and 3 (very good).

But for some people, it is not the money that counts. It is the feeling of ‘being appreciated’ by your own bosses weighs much more. And I have witnessed a lot of UNAPPRECIATED feelings going on and it just bogged me down. The list has been out and one idiot had somehow managed to ‘circulate’ the ranking (and marks) around the office. Since then, there are so much negativity in the air that I breathe that made me wanna take leave tomorrow (if Cemtex Orient has been released from her detainship)

I will tell you what the appraisal system has done to the people.

Ones who have been staying up after 5:00 now go back exactly at 5:00. No more staying back to receive an overseas fax. I guess that means no to coming to work during weekends just to make sure the certificates get to customer before vessel arrival. Pity the company, she’s so talented and so hard working. These are the kind of people whom will be snatched and whatever happened to the statement, “Our human resource is our greatest asset!”

Those who get to be interviewed by the big boss and can prove that he/she deserve a three, will get a three. Be late in scheduling the appointment with the big boss, eventhough you work your hard ass out, you’ll be told, “Sorry, I can’t afford to give so many three’s in the company”.

The guy who came in so early, went back so late, have clustered table is the benchmark. You came in earlier than him, you went back later than him, and if your table are messier than him, you might stand a chance to win a three. Please note that I am not saying the clustered table doesn’t deserve a three.

There are also naïve bosses who was taught that if you rate your subordinates three, that means she/he doesn’t need any training. Therefore, these bosses will rate you one instead of two or three considering that you need much more training. For me, training will improve you but it’s the hard work that you put on your work that needs to be appraised.

Hey I just found out that the Desperate Housewives is on at 8TV. And it is one episode earlier than 70. Daa!
