At the Man's Office

Dear all,

Guess where I am?

At the Man's office. Yes, the Man, my dear husband who has one double lid eye.

The Man's unit shares the floor with another unit whom I think is doing nothing for the company. *Jahatkan aku ni*

Anyway, they are having a buka puasa do and I embraced myself to come (after the Man is invited and he invited me). Just an opportunity for me to get to know the people and what are they doing, actually , for the Company and the betterment of the people's lives in Malaysia.

I haven't figured out much yet.

But the head of the unit, eh tak de le head, the GM, is actually amazing. He is a Toastmaster (Bila la me and the Man nak start our Toastmaster). He acknowledged my Man's presence. Agaknya memang bagus lah this Toastmaster thing. Me and the Man ops sorry The Man and I have been trying to enrol for one and trying we have been for the past 8 years. Hehe.. trying and never really made a move.

Well, another good friend of us, Zul is also in that unit (which I still think does nothing for the company). Zul is apparently the most popular guy in our nets group (the group where we were first recruited by the company). He is doing good, and I am happy. Apparently he was chosen by the management to go for this GLC cross transfer program that will enable him to move to peroton and get new experience there, dengan gaji masih dibayar oleh companyku ini.

I wish to think positively that this cross transfer thing will benefit us.

So, I am out of the Man's nice room (with orange chairs and black leather couch, shit, better than mine) and to mingle around some more.

Oh yes.. tadi masa buka puasa, aku sorang je perempuan duduk di antara lelaki lelaki. Ini yang repeatedly I told people (esp those in melakofberehad) that I am SOOO reluctant to attend this department/ company buka puasa sebab nanti pompuan kena duduk ngan pompuan, laki kena duduk ngan laki. Abih tu, aku ni nak borak ngan sape? PA PA boss korang? Aghh!! And talk about what? Kalau the girls from Planning tu tak pe jugak, lots of things to bitch about.

Adakah aku yang antisocial?

Okay, out to mingle.

Tots from the Leader I Respect

I was cleaning up old note books and found this sheet that I titled , "10.6 What I Want to Remember".
(I was sooo organized years ago, okay. All the note books were properly sectioned and numbered)

The page is getting very dirty and thought of throwing it away when I decided to catch a glimpse again of what is 10.6.

So this is among the 10.6

Management tips

What is a good absence and what is not?

A good absence is a paid leave away from the office rejuvenating one’s mind or spending quality time with the kids or parents.

What is a not-good abscene , then?
1. A leave taken to run away from problems or avoiding a big important meetings at work. A sign of irresponsibility and immaturity.
2. A leave taken leaving all the papers unsifted on the table. Your first day after the leave will be tougher with all the papers to sift and boss calling you for status report. Make a plan to reroute the letters and memo to you before you take leave.
3. A leave taken and leaving the colleagues finishing up jobs that you are supposed to finish with them having no clues of picking up where you have left. Good project manager will definitely establish of system of leaving the important files archived in a proper and friendly manner.
4. A leave taken to attend to your banking matters. You should play smart by using the internet banking or taking a lunch-break for that matter. If you foresee that the queues at the bank are overwhelming and killing your time, talk to your boss to see whether you can take a 10-oclock one hour break with a promise you will work through the designated lunch hour.
5. Monday, is definitely not a good day to pick up for leave, especially you are the Head of Unit whom to present your sale report and performance and new target on weekly staff meeting on Monday.
6. A leave taken with series of phone calls received from early morning until afternoon. It is definitely not refreshing for you to sip the drink by the beach side while taking all these calls from your clients. Make sure the important people know when are you taking leave and make a plan to reroute all the phone calls to your assistant. Less important calls should not be picked up rather messages shall be left so that you can return them once you are back in the office.

not to be me....

Isn't it wonderful to travel around the world without a care of your work, or whether the lights will go on, or whether the goods will be delivered, or whether the goods delivered will go unused and create sulfur emission to the nearby villages?

Isn't it wonderful not to be me..?

Gregory Colbert, what a fantastic man

The man behind the lens is Gregory Colbert. He’s also the subject in some of the photographs of this fifteen year-long journey. Colbert can be seen without a breathing apparatus swimming in rhythm with sperm whales. He believes that “nature is an incredible poem and animals are its living masterpieces.” Many in the Western world marvel at Colbert’s work and find it unimaginable that events like this actually take place within nature’s backdrop, but he does not manipulate his art in any way.

“Living with nature is pretty simple really. There’s nothing radical about it,” he says. “If I were to take the hill tribes to a city where there are all these humans, and only a few pigeons, and a dog and cat walking around, that would be unfathomable to them.” The fruits of his exploration led to Ashes and Snow - a multi-media phenomenon of photography, film, architecture, poetry and live installation. It is opening minds to explore what’s out there and eyes to see what’s possible. Sidney Portier said the exhibition is “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner? with animals. They’re being invited to the table as equals.”

In 1992, Colbert set out to explore the relationship between man and animal from the inside out. He searched for civilizations that don’t view animals as “others.” He says, “There are cultures that survive or are able to exist only by having a very balanced coexistence with other animals, and those cultures tend to treat animals as equals.” He found such places during 46 expeditions and counting to India, Egypt, Myammar, Tonga, Sri Lanka, Namibia, Kenya, Antarctica and more. The work features Burmese monks, trance dancers, hills people, manatees, African wild dogs and caracals among others. Sometimes weeks go by in faraway mountains, jungles and deserts without a single image being taken, but Colbert is profoundly patient and always observant. In the end, he wins the trusts of all his subjects. He believes in the expression and artistic nature of animals and the intrinsic chemistry that’s possible if man and animal can spiritually connect. Colbert says, “My imagination has always been inspired by nature’s vision.”

Frustrated with the barren, white walls of most museums, and “the art that goes there to die,” Colbert wanted to create something original and organic. The idea behind the traveling museum, and the funds that made it possible, came during the first showing of Ashes and Snow in 2002 at the Venice Biennale’s Arsenale. It’s a vast shipyard that dates back to the Renaissance era. Colbert’s solo exhibit was the first to fill up the entire space, and required people to walk a mile from end to end to experience it all. The chairman of Rolex was so inspired by what he saw that he bought all of Colbert’s work on the spot. He encouraged him to use the money to think big, build something amazing and then share it with the world.

Colbert took it from there. He enlisted the help of Japanese avant-garde architect Shigeru Ban to help complete the vision. Ban designed the 56,000 square foot Nomadic Museum building. It is composed largely of recyclable and reusable materials. The walls are constructed from 152 used shipping containers. They are stacked in a checkerboard pattern to create rigid walls. Paper tubing constitutes the roof and columns. Inside, instrumental music guides visitors down a wooden walkway surrounded by 6,000 river stones. A handmade curtain made of one million pressed paper tea bags from Sri Lanka hangs from the ceiling and floats 40 feet from the floor. An hour long film documenting each expedition and the awe behind the photo shoots is projected on a large screen in a theatre section of the museum. Two short haiku films also play at each end of the gallery. The sepia-toned unframed photographs hang suspended in a dreamlike calmness from thin cables and rods. Each image is 11 x 8 feet and contains no text or explanation. Colbert won’t share much when it comes to artistic process and other secrets behind his magic. Instead he chooses to let observers get lost in their own fantasies. The intention is to share the experience of wonder, contemplation, serenity and hope.

More than one million people have experienced Ashes and Snow. After its opening in Venice, it traveled to New York in 2005 and on to Santa Monica in 2006. Currently it’s on its fourth leg at the water’s edge in Tokyo, Japan. “Tokyo is an ocean of concrete surrounded by a body of water,” Colbert says. “The sea is kind of an oasis.” The Japanese have embraced Ashes and Snow, and this leg of the exhibition is on pace to set attendance records. “The response from the visitors here in Japan is different from what we’ve seen anywhere else,” Colbert explains. “They are spending a lot more time. They are going slowly and nobody’s talking. You can hear a pin drop in there. The Japanese are very contemplative and have taken ownership of Ashes and Snow. Many exit the museum and spend some time just sitting outside thinking about it all. I often feel that when I’m in a place that moves me, I don’t need to talk about it. Even lovers when they’re making love - they don’t give you a play by play.”

He views himself as a storyteller, and throughout his travels he’s been able to see the best and worst of what civilization has done to the environment. His art paints one picture, but it’s just part of the story. His own voice is also incredibly powerful: “We’re at a turning point,” he says. “It’s not good morning global warming, it’s good evening global warming. Yes, we are very rich materially. We’re the richest generation, but did we really have the right - three billion years of nature’s evolution - to have this amazing material party, and then wake up and see this big mess of a party and then like an anorexic, not even recognize that we are starving?”

and now I think people have awakened and realized something needs to be done now. Companies are not just products, and they can’t perpetuate stuff that promotes social chaos. In the future, it won’t be about just the product. You have to be a statesman and that will be a requirement for every CEO…” - GREGORY COLBERT

Colbert was born in Canada and raised on a six-nation Indian reservation. The totem art he grew up with featured animal and human faces. “By age eight or nine, Colbert says, “most kids transition out of curiosity about animals and into viewing them as something different or even dangerous. I simply never chose to cross that bridge.” As a result, he never distanced himself from them. His art can be seen as a poetic field study on the glory of nature and the problem with materialism. Ashes and Snow has no final destination. Gregory Colbert intends to spend the rest of his life providing a voice for animals and crusading to clean up the environment they share with us.

“We’ve been lured by modern culture into this cynical mistrust of nature, and it’s obviously left us where we are, as a species, but we are different than other generations because of the conscious choice we will or will not make. If we are no longer oblivious to the scientists’ view or the impact - it’s very quantifiable - what’s the next step? We’re not underwater, but we can feel the undertow. We’re the ones who’ve created the undertow. I guess we’re going to try to swim sideways?” - GREGORY COLBERT

On why is it two years!

Film adaptations
Main article: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (films)
A two-part film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is planned, with David Yates directing both parts. Part I is slated for release on 19 November 2010, and Part II on 15 July 2011.[86][87] The script was delayed as Steve Kloves was not able to start working on it until the 2007–2008 Writers Guild of America strike had ended.[88] Filming began in February 2009 and will last for a year.[89] John Williams, who composed the scores to the first three films, has expressed interest in returning to score the films.[90]

After the Deathly Hallows?!

Rowling's commentary and supplement
In an interview,[64] online chat,[10][65] the Wizard of the Month section of her website, and during her 2007 U.S. Open Book Tour, Rowling revealed additional character information that she chose not to include in the book. The first bits of information were about the trio and their families, starting with Harry.

She said that Harry became an Auror for the Ministry of Magic, and was later appointed head of the department. He also kept Sirius's motorcycle, which Arthur Weasley repaired for him, but he can no longer speak Parseltongue after the destruction of Voldemort's soul fragment within him. She also said that Ginny Weasley played for the Holyhead Harpies Quidditch team for a time, then left to establish a family with Harry, and later became the lead Quidditch correspondent for the Daily Prophet. Ron Weasley worked at George's store for a time, Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes, and then joined Harry as an Auror. Hermione found her parents in Australia, and removed the memory modification charm she had put on them for safety. Initially, she worked for the Ministry of Magic in the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures, greatly improving life for house elves. She later moved to the Department of Magical Law Enforcement and assisted in eradicating oppressive, pro-pureblood laws. She was also the only member of the trio to go back and complete her seventh year at Hogwarts. Rowling then went on to explain that Dumbledore's relationship with Gellert Grindelwald extended beyond mere friendship; indeed, Rowling has revealed that "Dumbledore is gay, actually",[66] and harboured romantic feelings for Grindelwald.[67] Next, Rowling revealed the fate of Voldemort. After his death, he was forced to exist in the stunted form Harry witnessed in the King's Cross limbo, as his crimes were too severe for him to become a ghost.

Rowling also explained the fates of several secondary characters, starting with the Weasleys. George Weasley continued his successful joke shop. George married fellow Quidditch player Angelina Johnson and had two children: a son named Fred, in memory of his late twin brother, and a daughter, Roxanne. Next, Rowling proceeded to explain Luna Lovegood's future, saying that she searched the world for odd and unique creatures. She eventually married Rolf, a grandson of the famed naturalist Newt Scamander,[65] writer of Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them. They have twins called Lorcan and Lysander. Her father's publication, The Quibbler, has returned to its usual condition of "advanced lunacy" and is appreciated for its unintentional humour.

Rowling then gave briefer histories on some more of the minor characters, as follows. Draco Malfoy's wife, Astoria (or Asteria), was the younger sister of his Slytherin classmate Daphne Greengrass. Percy Weasley married a woman named Audrey and had two daughters, named Molly and Lucy. Firenze was welcomed back into his herd, who finally acknowledged the virtue of his pro-human leanings. Dolores Umbridge was arrested, interrogated, and imprisoned for crimes against Muggle-borns. Cho Chang went on to marry a Muggle.[68] Viktor Krum found love in his native Bulgaria.[69] Neville Longbottom became professor of Herbology at Hogwarts and married Hannah Abbott, who became the landlady of the Leaky Cauldron.[70] Bill and Fleur Weasley had a total of three children, a younger son named Louis, and two daughters, named Dominique and Victoire.

Rowling also revealed further transformations in the wider wizarding world as follows. Kingsley Shacklebolt became the permanent Minister of Magic, with Percy Weasley working under him as a high official. Among the reforms introduced by Shacklebolt, Azkaban no longer used Dementors. Harry, Ron, and Hermione were also instrumental in reforming the Ministry.[10] At Hogwarts, Slytherin House became more diluted and no longer held the title as the pure-blood bastion it once was, although its dark reputation lingered.[10] Voldemort's jinx on the Defence Against the Dark Arts position was broken with his death, and there was a permanent Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher stated. Harry also is said to come to the Defence Against the Dark Arts class to lecture several times a year.[64] Lastly, Rowling says that a portrait of Snape, who briefly served as Hogwarts Headmaster, had not appeared in the headmaster's office, as he had abandoned his post. Harry then ensures the addition of Snape's portrait, and publicly reveals Snape's true allegiance.[10]

Finale of Harry Potter

I was correct! The Finale is 5 hours. But why two years?!! Urghh

Potter' enchants fans with US$58.2M opening day

LOS ANGELES: A long school break has been kind to "Harry Potter."

After a two-year gap since the last film, "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" opened with a whopping $58.2 million domestically in its first day, distributor Warner Bros. said Thursday.

"Half-Blood Prince" also conjured up $45.8 million in 33 other countries where it opened Wednesday, among them Great Britain, France, Germany, Australia and Japan.

That gave the film a worldwide total of $104 million.

Domestically, the movie had the best single-day haul yet for the franchise and the fourth-best daily gross ever, behind last year's "The Dark Knight" at $67.2 million, this summer's "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" at $62 million and 2007's "Spider-Man 3" at $59.8 million.

"Half-Blood Prince" receipts include a record $22.2 million from midnight screenings alone, surpassing the previous high of $18.5 million for "The Dark Knight."

The sixth installment in the "Harry Potter" series had the second-highest debut ever for a movie opening on Wednesday.

It trailed only the "Transformers" sequel opening last month.

The new movie generally has gotten the best reviews yet among the big-screen adventures of teen wizard Harry (Daniel Radcliffe).

"Half-Blood Prince" has Harry struggling to pry a critical memory loose from a new Hogwarts teacher who possesses key information in the coming showdown between the young hero and the evil Lord Voldemort.

The two-year lag since the fifth movie, "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix," was the longest in the franchise's history.

"Order of the Phoenix" started with a $44.8 million opening day on a mid-July Wednesday in 2007 and went on to gross $139.7 million by the end of its first weekend.

The big launch for "Half-Blood Prince" could put it on track to pass that mark over its first five days.

The film also has a solid launch to challenge the franchise's all-time best earner, which remains 2001's original movie, "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone," with $975 million worldwide.

"It certainly gives us something to look forward to, but we have to take it one week at a time," said Dan Fellman, Warner Bros. head of distribution.

Warner has had great luck with mid-July debuts, opening "The Dark Knight" and "Order of the Phoenix" over the same weekends the last two years.

The studio has carved out that weekend again next summer with "Dark Knight" director Christopher Nolan's follow-up, the sci-fi thriller "Inception," starring Leonardo DiCaprio.

The final "Harry Potter" movie follows on July 15, 2011, the second half of a two-part adaptation of the last book in J.K. Rowling's fantasy series.

the Half Blood Prince

We saw Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince last Saturday.

Like the book, the fan will surely forgive for all the (many) shortcomings of this movie since it is preparing us for THE final battle at the Deathly Hallows.

Little details, like the name of the girls bumped at Supper, or spells that won’t work, or curtsies by any of the Teachers, will pop up at the end of the book at each of the book’s final battle. However, as for Half Blood Prince, the final battle is not stimulating, doesn’t make your hand stand. I am correct to say that there is no battle at all in this Half Blood Prince.

However, many things I re-discovered:
1. George and Fred’s Joke Shop is definitely fantastic, much more beautiful then what I have imagined when I read the book. You can just hear the laughter just by looking at the door.
2. Ginny is a grown up?! Our eyes were still on the cute, naïve girl but accepting the fact, anyway.
3. I thought Tonk and Lupin got married during summer?
4. I thought Tonk found Harry when he was ‘stupefied’ by Draco Malfoy in the train.
5. Since when Ron has biceps?
6. Hermione is as what I have always imagined; sweet, grown up, wiser, brilliant as always.
7. I thought Slughorn was supposed to be uglier.
8. Narcissa, Draco’s mother was supposed to look meaner and bitchier but she looked prettier in the movie.
9. I feel that the score was not appalling enough.

All in all , it is a forgiven piece. As we fan know, it is to prepare us for the final battle , the Dark Lord vs Harry Potter. And I don’t know how long could the movie be. 5 hours?

Seriously, I don’t mind 5 hours.

Erase The Anger

I typed these in my qwerty keyboard NOKIA E71

"What time did you come home last night? Y didn't u wake me up to set my alarm? And y didn't move the kid to his bed? I didn't get to set my alarm, so didn't get to get up for sahur. Today feel very sluggish"

and erased them right away, replaced by these

"Dah makan?"

Anger, when blurted out, stays even 1,000 words of apology are uttered.

I Have Not Been Fair

I have not been fair to this blog space since now I am currently in this cupcake frenzy. (I know I am a bit late into it)

Okay, so this space is for politics, office, shoppings, etc. I have a new ones on the picture of all my cuppies at http://butterinthecup.blogspot.com but purely, all pictures, no feelings attached.

So update of my new life:
1. School holidays : both Azeuchry and Anna were on flu bugs.
2. I have put on weight. I think so. I have refrained myself from stepping on the scale.
3. I bought seven guppies for Azeuchry and all of them died within seven days.
4. My new boss has low self esteem.
5. I was advised not to office-politics-talk here.
6. Rohana is back in the Crystal Plaza. I am safe.
7. My next Bandung trip is within 2 weeks time.
8. My birthday trip to Sipadan was not beautiful. But my husband made it beautiful with a useful birthday gift a month later. (Read: A month later)
9. Butterfly is so hard to draw on the cup cakes.
10. Five hundred bucks is how much I earned on my cupcakes business.

Definitely Not Healthy!

When I was caught in a situation where I was not given didn’t grab much time to defend myself, I found that I retaliate to others.

I picked up ‘others’ as those who have been bugging me and I judgingly feel that they should be punished along time ago.

The first victim is the depressed neighbor who has been texting the whole neighborhood about how bad the husband is. I went to her house just to tell her to stop texting me and get a life. I did. OK.

The second victim is the non performing Senior Manager who is being very dogmatic and saying many wrong things just to make people feel that he has somethings to say. I, in front of others in a big meeting, kinda humiliated him. “Mr R, you shouldn’t be referring to them as non core units, they are the supporting unit. Calling them non core will only make them feel that they are the second class group!”. I did. OK.

Don’t think all these are healthy.

I need to be human again.

The Down Days

Sometimes, you have a one sided friendship. You tend to hear, to listen to The Other Person (TOP) rambling and yours went unheard. In another relationship, you are the one who talk more and the other one listens.

I guess that’s pretty much depending on who you are. If you are a strong character, you’ll tend to talk, and dictate, and powerfully bash people down, especially people with soft character.

How do I define myself? Yes, I am the attention seeker. I created drama to get attention from my closed ones. I unshyfully (such word exist?) approach stranger. I could stop in a middle of road to ask direction.

But when it comes to a dictating person, I surrender. I retreated myself further and just sat there being bashed.

A few occasions went by and somehow, I suddenly feel that I am a soft snake that requires recoil. But when I recoil, I recoil in anger.

The thing with Clipperseep is, she can’t talk properly when anger kicks. She was an angry teenager. She had hells being an angry person. She pushed a friend’s pride when that friend angered her. It costs not much, but quite a handful bitter experience. So Clipperseep stays low and far from being mad.

So there I was, absorbing the following impressions:
1. That I am not to my normal par. That the kids’ sicknesses deter my performance.
2. That my team lack of intelligence, wisdom and decisiveness is unbearably costing the company heaps of opportunity losses.
3. That my two mis-quoted wrong laycan dates given to a wrong contract is a sign of my weakness and my brain illness. That my effort of admitting my mistake got bashed more.
4. That my highly respected boss is sharing all the wrong things I did under the sky and whining about it endlessly and that is the ultimate to his stress.

Anyway, that was me. I extended the impressions I have further in my brain and kicked my butt harder to the conclusion that I am not that worth to be here.

While I am absorbing that all the facts could be true, I did try to recoil and things become ugly.

Defensive is not even a choice. Absorptive is.

Perhaps I should just stay home. And try to be a good mother. Perhaps my kids are the only things I should care about, rather than saving the company million bucks.

Anna

She is fine! Wound is finally healing.

The sky is suddenly blue. The food suddenly tastes good. My flabby tummy suddenly vanishes...

How the kids mean to us... and how their good news brighten our days...

Daily Update

Life is happening so fast for me.

1. Zul MN passed away about four hours after I visited him at Damansara SC. Well, I always thought that he will go earlier than the rest of us , since he had that mechanical heart installed in him and due for replacement / inspection anytime soon, but I never thought that it is this soon. I cried when I saw his wife, a young widow with five kids. I cried even more when I saw his friends aching i.e. Nonche, Hisham and the rest.

I miss him in the negotiation meeting. They would surely miss him more. How would it be walking by his empty office, closed door and dark room. Apatah lagi nanti bila ada replacement and they will be forced to clean up the room and his belongings. Part of us want to hold on to that memory, another part of us want to move on.

The wife decided to bury him here where many had argued that he should be buried back in Kelantan so that his family will go back to Kelantan settling down.

I guess, that's her decision. After all, its her right to remain in the house where Zul and her built together, and raised their 5 kids together.

HE is a special person and I cried again when writing.

2. Back to me.

My Bandung trip (I'll blog about the items we bought) went well except for the fact that I left my sick child behind. The Man took three full days off to take care of him and i VOWED that I will never leave them behind anymore. Anywhere we go after this, we'll go together as a family.

3. Prusuant to the vow I made, the immediate weekend after that, we took the kids to Bird's Park. It was entertaining. The peacocks were showing off their beautiful feathers everywhere. The parrots were colorful and the burung kenyalang were magnificent. I liked it. The kids like it and we all kissed Daddy thank you. I nursed Anna and a pigeon flew above and shoot me a good white spot on my hair.

4. Azam had an acute asthma attack the week I went to Bandung. (I told my parents in law that I had a business meeting in JKT and took off to Bandung right away). He is now on 4 hourly puff of ventolin evohaler and 12 hourly seretide evohaler.

5.Anna is going for a minor surgery next week. Aparently she had this tiny dot on her left earh called the preauricular sinus. That tiny dot is actualy a little hollow and it is now infected and a lump is formed with pass inside. I was worried that the procedure will scar her face. Went to see Dr. Zul Ladin who did Azam's hernia for second opinion and yup, I'm ready to do it next week.

6. Baie the Boss had a bad time last week and been throwing act at us. We lovingly took all the acts in good faith and stayed loyal, anyway.

7. On top of all these, my Pinkie Dell decided to rest for a while and I was without her for almost 13 days. Fooh.. 13 days without blogging, without Facebook, without real work!

Wish us luck for Anna's surgery.

Feeling Lonely

I'm just surprised to see how lonely one could be whilst being in a large group...
I know that when the thoughts wonder around and keep landing on one particular issue or person, suddenly your life becomes purposeful. you'd feel lonely but those thoughts would gave you a warm feeling indeed

Sometimes i feel...

This seldom happens. Yes i am a human.
I feel like vanishing into thin air. I feel like there are too much expectations of me and I am supposed to stand strong anchoring every one else.
I am done of thinking that I am the victim, that i have always to keep cleaning other people's mess(es). I am over that. I have accepted that as challenges and embraced through the errors to get them corrected.
However I am defeated by the various audits done, endless queries to be answered, piles of documents to sift through. For now I am defeated and feel like running away from here.
There is a place I long to be and its in his arms...

Deleted

I've deleted the entry about work and the procurement thingy.

Turned out to be that I am no longer mad.

It is destined that my work is such.

It requires high integrity, mistake-free.

So that is what I am paid for.

No need to compare the Money I'm getting with those who duduk goyang kaki (sit down and yak all day).
No need to compare the fact that I am the only Manager whose room has no door, and people would walk in freely while I am breast-expressing.

The satisfaction is in the job itself.

It is satisfying to see the process I created evolved, to see the time cut to do the same amount of things.

Gloomy Year 2009

Talking crap now.

I think the growth of the economy will pick up very slow this time.
I think we'll see the investors coming in back earliest by Q4 2009.

I think the blue chips will only pick up by 2H 2009.

Crap ek.

My Prayers for the Kids of Palestines

My Prayers for the Kids of Palestines

Dear Allah,

I pray that they died without the pain
I pray that they died without the fear
I pray that they are at someplace better

I pray that someone kind will swoop them in his arms
when they stood there crying for their dying moms

I pray that someone kind will hug and calm them down
I pray that someone kind will always come around

I pray that you sent this suffering away
Away from them, away from mine

I pray that if this finally arrived the place called here
I will have the strength to stand there with my kids
To teach them that death is nothing to fear
For you will be meeting your Creator

10-year Plan

Was reading the magazine about the ten years horoscope reading. Not that I am a big believer of horoscope (noted I spelt hororscope before) since I believe that we shape our own destiny, but it is nice to realize that if we could chart the ten years business plan for the company, why couldn’t we do it to our own personal life.

I do have a ten years plan mapped out since I was 25. I achieved half of it, having a family of my own, having the stability and freedom to buy my parents things and started to make my money works for me. Half of it. Or shall I say all of it, since my plan is only for half of the ten-year period.

Truth is I could only see five years down the road. I saw me going to boarding school when I was in standard two and make sure I worked hard for that. I saw me in the science class when I was in Form Three (since my school had very limited science class) and I worked hard for that. I saw me in the States visiting two places, i.e. Niagara Falls and the Disneyland and I worked hard for that. I got all those.

When I graduated, I was clueless for the first four years. Didn’t know whether I was at the right path. Dreamt of getting married but don’t know what would happen after the wedding. Dreamt of getting the works done correctly but don’t know whether the path is there for me, an engineer doing this work.

So I started to see where I was going when Azeuchry was born. The financial planning, the spending on myself and on my parents. The bits I did for the family. Mapping out where the company was heading to. Well, the company wasn’t actually there because of the plan we mapped out, but rather on the market animosity. A bit here and there.

Back to the horoscope.

So it is said that in 2012, I will have a very clear picture on where am I heading to which sounds positive. In 2017, I will have a very heavy windfall. Which made sense because the economic cycle will take about 9 years to bloom very very nicely so all the money I invested in the unit trust funds will hit their high and I’ll harvest of around RM1.0 million or more in 2017. Big laugh on the the very small amount I’m investing (well I did a bit, okay? 40% to the unit trust, 60% to the new Coach bag and some shoes and make ups and whats). On the bad news 2014 will see a family commitment seeking attention.

I mapped out the whole thing and figure out that certain scenarios.

Scenario 1: Working in this organization until the retirement day:
First five years
---------------------
2009/ My age 32/ Azeuchry 5 yo/ Anna 1/ My dad 62 *
2010
2011
2012 / My age 35 *clearer picture of where am I heading * perhaps getting my Senior Manager promotion. Heading a very enlarged unit doing trading, hedging, operation.
2013
--------
Next five years
---------------------
2014/ My age 37/ Azeuchry 10 yo/ Anna 6/ My dad 67 * Family commitment seeking attention * My dad is the closest to me, so I assume it’s something to do with my dad. I’m wishing that I have all the time for him.
2015
2016
2017/ My age 40 * Expecting a very heavy windfall * Hmm what else if I’m stuck here in this organization. Perhaps becoming the youngest female General Manager? Getting very large amount of company’s shares? Tax department figured out that I overpaid and pay me back with 200% of compounding interest? Haa… drooling.
2018

Scenario 2: Not in this organization.
First five years
---------------------
2009/ My age 32/ Azeuchry 5 yo/ Anna 1/ My dad 62 *
2010
2011
2012 / My age 35 *clearer picture of where am I heading * Quit this organization. Will be offered a job heading a commodity trading unit with very challenging and doable tasks. Having fun at work.
2013
--------
Next five years
---------------------
2014/ My age 37/ Azeuchry 10 yo/ Anna 6/ My dad 67 * Family commitment seeking attention *
2015
2016
2017/ My age 40 * Expecting a very heavy windfall * Financial freedom! Not having to work. Starting a consultancy firm that do very expensive advisory services on commodity and operation. Big name in girl-power motivation talk about money and career and breastfeeding. Getting called back to this organization to be in the Board of Director and get to kick people asses for moving slow. Haha.

Negotiation So-Called

I am ashamed.

My boss shall be ashamed, too.

I am in the Price Nego Committee, who determines the price of about 50% of the *utility* cost in Peninsular of Malaysia. I shall say that the Committee is indeed very prestigious, contains only the Senior Manager and above, and very highly confidential. Only me and my colleagues are kucing kurap.

I worked damn hard for the Committee and scored very good points when presenting ideas to them.

But I did bad in the recent negotiation with my own maid. Read. My Own Maid.

Damn.

Well, let's see.

She has been bugging me and the Man about pay increase from RM450 to Rm550. We wanted to settle at RM510, she maintained at RM550.

So I say this morning, okay with RM550 but no bonus.

She hagged me on and on about bonus. And I left the meeting with her feeling very satisfied because she is getting it!!
Geramnya.

Did I do market study before meeting her?
No.
She pushed me away when I said no other maid is getting a bonus. She said well this one got, this other got, I got, so why couldn't she get it.

Did I use the back door that 'we shall see what the Board says'?
No.
I always said, i'll check on with the Encik but this time, she knew what the Encik can give.

Did I use the average cost technique that will let her see the bigger picture?
No.
Damn me.

And a lot other things that I use in the negotiation meeting went unutilized with the simple-thinking Indonesian maid.

She walked away happily with RM550 (that is a RM100 increase from last year salary) and a promise of a yearly bonus.

Well, I did say no salary increase for another two years.
Points for me.
She said well she could stay another three years.

Well, I did say no to free flight ticket home.
Points for me.
She said well she is not going back for another three years.

I am a bad, bad, negotiator.

The company shall not hire me, no more.

Update of Mi Vida

Some update of my life :

1. Been busy with Shaniza and Nic's wedding.
I worked extremely hard to make sure that Nic's family feel welcomed during both the event of Nikah at Home and the Reception at the Banquet Hall.
Both Mama (mom in law) and me had just noticed how controlling Shaniza was. Everything, she must lay her hands on. Everything that we do, she'll screamed on why the flowers must be arranged that way, the pins that way. Mama however played cool and bo-layan saja her fuss. After all, things need to get done.

2. Been busy re arranging my Johannesburg's trip.
Was supposed to take place last month but Baie spent one whole week with his dying father. I'm glad he did. Told him many times that very rare , we got the opportunity to send our parents to the grave.
Allah, give me enough time and opportunities to be with mom and dad when their time are near. Give me enough chance to make them happy.
So, go back to my Joburg trip, will be flying off this Saturday and come back on Friday. Urghh... six days without the kids. I 'll be dead!

3. Been busy monitoring the Unit Trust prices.
The prices are getting low, low, low and it is the best time to invest. I purchased three new funds and been greedily pumping money into the funds.

4. Work like always , macam tu. But the commodity prices are getting the impact of the U.S financial crisis. I am having fun grinning at the prices getting lower and lower.

5. Been laughing at Ida the drama queen. Malas nak buka cerita ngumpat ngumpat orang ni but I couldnt' care less about whatever she'll feel if i said this or that. Yang penting , kerja jalan. Importante, work gets done.

6. Been getting slap-on-my-face during the weekly department meeting on all the undone contracts. Urgh!

7. Anna is now getting prettier! And taller! All the pyjamas are getting shorter and I have more excuses to go out and shop.

8. Gained 2 more kgs. Urgh!

9. Hubby is now away for a stupid Biro Tata Negara.

10. Thinking hard of cutting my hair shorter. Like Rihanna. What say you guys?

Anna Zahirah My Beautiful Princess

Anna Zahirah

Shaniza and Nic at Banquet Hall

Bunch of Papa's classmates when he was in India for his second degree. They have not met for how many donkey years and so there they were during the wedding, wiping tears and hugging each other.

Conversation took place.
Me: (HandingPapa a glass of ice lemon tea after him standing there for almost two hours greeting the guests)
Papa: (Gulped down). Thank you
Me: Nasib baik la ada menantu baik macam ni kasi papa minum. If not, you would have not drank for all day long sampai balik rumah.
Papa: Tu lah. Semoga lepas ni papa dapat la lagi menantu yang baik macam ni. (looking at lynn, charlie's girlfriend with a smile).

After broking up with the fiance last four years, Charlie finally found himself a replacement. Yang ni ok lah, whenever she was around, she didn't look like she didn't wanna be there like Afifa (the tunang tak jadi). Look like she has brain (an indication of what we felt otherwise of Afifa kakah). But one thing that my Mom In law was fuming about it's the fact that both Charlie and Lynn were melekat together like glue all day long. Mama was furious, sampai lupa nak marah kitorang on the pregnant maid.

I know. This should be bigger but my Windows Photo Manager didn't turn out to be very friendly (or me wasn't being very clever eh). This is the altar where both my dear sis in law Shaniza and her dear husband Nic were seated.

These are the flower girls. My job to put the make up on them. These left two didn't have much problem. Their skins were flawless. The middle one had uneven skin which is not really a problem because I managed to patch them up. But the eye lashes were long and winding (now I know where Azeuchry got his) and putting mascara to it was a huge mistake. The right two were fair, quite pale. So I dusted along MAC NC42 to tan them up.

Me on the wedding day. The selendang did look pretty eh. (Sebab rambut dah 5 hari tak berbasuh kakakah). The pink kurung was a gift from my mom in law. Get it tailored at Arena Boutique where she saw (what is the past tense of sew ek? saw? sewn? ntah) pearls (read: PEARLS) and clustered beads. Costed me RM100 for the beading but puas hati gila.

The reception was done at Banquet Hall, UPM.

Nikah Shaniza and Nic

This is my dad, Apak and my father in law, Papa. My dad's glasses look funky eh. Aku pun tak perasan spek mata dia ada kaler kaler macam ni.
Charlie and Lynn. Mama said right away after the event, Charlie told Ma that he wanted to get married next year. Cess.. penat berdiri wedding si Shaniza tak abis, ada satu lagi....?!?! But I'm happy for them. Elok lah tu.. berkepit jeeee.... naik panas mata tengok. (Tapi kang korang kata aku jeles tengok orang belum kawin berkepit pulakk)
This is the bride and the groom. Shaniza and Nic.

Nic's parents. Both of them shed tears after the nikah. Me, tak perasan sebab tengah makan nasi lemak at kitchen. Lapar siot.

Spree!

Like a bird flying away from the cage, I roamed Megamall. Like a free vampire, I swiped the Visa like nobody business and returned home, refusing to look at all the receipts I accumulated.

However, as a responsible financial advisor to my Man and also the future Prospects, I am hereby listing down the expenses with all the grudges and hesitation and embarassment. (Ambik kau)

1. Azam's Sweater (always start with the kid's. It'll make me like a super duper excellent mom)RM50.
2. Anna's Bonnet (well, can't blame me. She does look like a boy without hair, so putting up a new bonnet makes her look pretty and like-a-girl)RM15
3. Carlo Rino new handbag (which can fit my breast pump and my note book, which justifying me as again a super duper excellent breastfeeding mom ) RM300
4. Shoes (well strike this off because I held back my wallet and quickly walked out from the Clarks) RM280
5. Zara. Black tight skirt RM139.00
6. Zara. A pair of nicely fitted black pants RM199.00
7. Panty hose RM25.00
8. BodyShop foundation brush RM60)

Total (urghh!) RM790.00

I'm going to bed! I'm going to bed!!

(oh sungguh perit kenyataan ini)

Saturday, September 13, 2008

Azuechry had fever for two days on Monday and Tuesday. On Tuesday evening, he started throwing up and purging water out of his skinny body. He slept and suddenly woke up, projectiling large thick mucus out from his drying two lips.

On Thursday, we checked him out at a paed clinic at Az-Zahrah. Dr. Nazim admitted him. He wobbled while the Paed poked a little tiny syringe into his body but acted brave and all-strong.

We went into the ward where they put him drip. When the Man finished up his HOU meeting, we swapped placees while I went to finish up my BTC paper. I spent the whole night at the ward. He threwed up in his sleep. Once. One whole night was spent iin the bed without any single drop of milk nor food. Poor darling.

Friday morning. The Man had to take the Maid to the Indonesian embassy. I went home to nurse Anna and my sister Yanto went over to the ward to accompany him.

Both mommy and daddy went to the hospital around 3 in the afternoon. He saw uswalking out from the car and waited for us patiently. But Mommy didn't go upstairs. Mommy went in the OutpatientCenter to get some drip into her body.

Turned out to be that I caught his bacteria, too. I was purging water out from the body. The doctor wanted to get me admitted but I refused. So they put me on drip for two hours after injecting Maxolon and Buscopan to my butt.

I went home right after two hours. Azeuchry was already home laughing away at me. Both of us limped in front of the flat screen.

Macam Tu Lah Period!

Been having droplets of blood. Little stain on the panty. Since Last Saturday. One tiny droplet every ehmm about 36 hours. Figured out less fluid in my body must have induced that.

Been fasting. Been performing Solat.

When on the sixth day, I decided to call up Gart and she simply screamed, "Macam tu lah period orang breastfeeding!".

Feel bodoh.

Next day, gulped down a big glass of water early at 7:00 a.m., and a glass of nescaffee at Work.

For Thou , Ramadan

Figured out that Ramadan is the best month to start new habit, to become a new person, a better person.
Figured out that Ramadan is not the only month to curb our hunger, our thirst, but 'our hunger for world's possession'.

So, here is THE list.

I vow that in the whole month of the noble Ramadhan...

1. I shall not buy new lipsticks or new eye colors.
2. I shall not buy any more bottles of parfum.
3. I shall not eat at expensive hotel buffets.
4. I shall try to drink unsweetened water.
5. I shall dress below my knee.
6. I shall not use my MasterCard or Visa.
7. I shall read the Quran (at least the Fatihah) to Azeuchry once a day.

Forgive Me For Waiting

Looks like I suddenly have extra hours at office, doing my usual blog hopping after a session of 5-oz expression.

Thing is, I got piles to complete.

But the tender evaluation committee is sitting and as soon as they are finish, I will buzzing through for the memo to NumeroUno. NUmeroUno has set up tomorrow's 17:30 for the bids to be presented. Absurd but doable.

I am agitatedly but patiently waiting.

But what took them so long?!?!

Beat The System

two hundred billions over worth of contract gets done in less than 8 days.

We got the approval from NumeroUno on Friday 17:30. Preparing the tender documents and invitation letter.
Fax them on Saturday.
Closing today Wednesday.
Evaluating them straight away.
Concluding them tonight.
Presenting to NumeroUno and the bunch of Commttee tomorrow at 17:30.

Awarding latest by Friday.

See? If you know how to important is your tender, you'll work your ass hard and beat the snail system.

...Sponging away all the pressure for him

Well it is not true anyway.

He has a lot more pressure than anyone else now.

He is not being appreciated from my Number 1.

Numero Uno has just started trusting him and it was such a difficult situation to work under a person who simply doesn't trust you.

It is not fair for me to say that I am sponging away all the pressure for him.
Because I am not.

I am really having a hate-respect-hate-love relationship with this guy eh.

What Will I Be If I Am Not A **** Manager.

1. Lactation consultant.
I can be a good listener, a good consultant and plus, who can understand a lot more about the heartache of breastfeeding if not the person itself?

2. Full time blogger.
My grammar is here and there and nobody checks my spelling but I am real GOOD when it comes to EXPRESSING EMOTION.

3. Datuk Azalina's Othman Fashion Consultant.
Needless say more. She needs one.

4. Unit Trust Consultant.
I just pass the Exam, people! I believe in the Shariah-based fund truly and I had a very good intention to start, that is to find a blessed source of investment.

5. Coal and Shipping Contract Advisor for M**lak**of Berhad.
Well, heard that they are looking for one and who is experienced enough to draft templates for these two? Me, the uncertified lawyer.

And yet, my loyalty is still with my Number 2.

Unless he asks me to sponge other people's shits.

That's Why He Calls Me His SpongeBob!

I'm going to bitch. (I know under 18 reads my blog, but I am bitching anyway!)

My Number 2 is a human who never stop believing in developing man.

He can put anyone he likes in the team because he knows I'll absorb the pressure. I will always stay here to make sure that the business is uninterrupted. I am always here to provide him facts whenever he goes to see Numero Uno.

And he can put person as undecisive as nooras in the team. Why? Because I'll be sponging away all the tasks of making decision.

And he can put person as degil as Rose's husband in the team. Why? Because I'll be the one who does the work for Number 2 when Rose's husband walk away stubbornly from a meeting room, refusing to write the bloody damn paper.

And he can put person as childish as INI in the team. Why? Because when she walks away to let the steam off from the office, I'll be the one who compiles all the data required and runs like headless chicken around to find them.

That 's why he calls me his Spongebob.

Cause that is what I do. Sponging away all the pressure for him

The Husband

There is another part of the story but am writing the first half of it.

Conversation revolves around Numero Uno and My Number 2.

Numero Uno: We should send someone as our representative to do the lobbying.
Number 2: Then we should send our Chief Lobbyist for this.
Numero Uno: That's too high. Anyone from your office?
Number 2: Hmm
Numero Uno: HOw about that guy? Rose's husband?
Number 2: Who? Rose?
Numero Uno: Yeah.. that looks like mat salleh a bit. Rose's husband (two times).
Number 2: Okay.

Well, The Man and I work in the same Group but I definitely don't want anyone to know him as Clipper's Husband!

Malu siot.

Who and Who

At Home.

The Man: The Man whom I married 6 years ago. Who has one eye with double lid and the other not. Whose waist size is getting larger. Whose head is the sexiest (when it is bald, I think). Who is a great listener. Who keeps me grounded and pulls me from la-la land. Whose caress on my not-so-love hair made me feel like crying and smiling both at the same time.

Azeuchry: The first baby. The angel of my life. The first time I feel that there is a reason why God created me. And the reason is him.

Anna: My first princess. Smiles the loveliest. Laughs and simply makes me out-of-this-world. Humbly and patiently waiting for my hugs, and kisses, every single time she catches glances of me.

At Work.

Numero Uno : CEO of the Group.
Very sharp. He knows figures at his fingertips. When it was announced that he's getting 100% increment, I silently think he deserves it and loudly protest on why is he not sharing it with the rest.
When he fires you, you'll feel that his eyes get smaller and his shoulders balloon up, just like a katak kembong.

Number 1 : MD of my Company who is wholly owned by the Group.
He has the shortest span of attention.
He has the need for more love in the world.

Number 2 : My lovely GM whose brain is the smartert and shoes the ugliest.
I love this guy to bits.
He is the reason I have the highest tolerance among the rest, wiser and brighter.
Sometimes butterfly dances in my tummy when he strikes a fight with anyone, but I know he is just doing what he is supposed to be doing.
He is the reason I am staying.
..at least for now..

Exam

My Tutorial is this Friday.

I have not blogged about me sitting for the Unit Trust exam, have I?

Figured out that since I'm withdrawing the whole lot of my ASB and splitting them into Tabung Haji and Unit Trust instead, I might as well earn the agency fees. The company is charging the customer 5.5% out of the initial investment, and 2.75% will go to the agent who enrolls you up.

So the tutorial for the Exam is this Friday and the exam is two weekends away.

Linda had dropped by with a thick document to read.

I am yet to finalize my fuel supply plan so that the quarterly lifting schedule to the suppliers are sent out before this Friday. I have another Letter of Award to be sent out (which terms are not aggreable between me and the Supplier) and a TOR for an evaluation to be completed.

My Number 1 and Number 2

I seriously think it is a redundant.

My GM is the one running around like a mad person with a pair of ugly shoes. Well, my MD runs around, too, worrying about why the server is still down, why one light is off, why the ladies' toilet had not been cleaned.

My GM runs around to check the data in our PC, stands behind us while we punched in some bizarre numbers into our spreadsheet before we print them for him to go see the Numero Uno. Well, my MD runs around, too, checking on whether the emails Jas sent to all the girls in our office on keeping the toilet cleaned is read by most of us, on whether we understand that the used pad is to be rolled in a tissue paper before we plonked them into the blue dustbin.

My GM reads through and through all the papers we writefor the Board. Well, my MD demands for the papers to be sent to his home PC so that 'he would look at it over the weekend', only to scold us on Monday saying that our English is not at par (without knowing that I actually pasted a monkey picture instead of a graph in one of my word doc email for his read-over-the-weekend homework).

My GM hastily shoved the food down his throat when he got a call from the NumeroUno’s office and quickly got the printing from us. Well, my MD quickly claimed tummy upset everytime the Numero Uno called. Sometimes he went over for the appointment, when he needed approval to go overseas.

My GM had the prices of the fuels at his finger tips and answered the Numero Uno’s rambling questions whilst my MD stared blankly into spaces, dreamt about how many more money he should earn to get his ass into the habit of reading the market daily.

While I had fun watching my MD playing a fool out of himself, I know that the RM4.00 bread my GM keeps munching is a sign he’s combating his stress away.

(Satu hari nanti korang tengoklah GM aku akan jadi sebesar pintu fridge).

At Dhillon's Wedding

Me and The Man.

This couple look lovely in purple. (Mommy's favorite color)

Sob, in case you have not seen my new hair properly. (Before they grow ugly)

Successful Trip!

Ida and I decided not to fly neither to overnight on our quarterly trip to Tanjung Bin, Johor. And I vowed that I will express Anna's staple food all along the journey.

We took off from Bangi around 6:30 a.m. and shot up straight to Simpang Renggam. I expressed before we took off and while Ida changed into her office attire, I expressed at Simpang Renggam Exit PLUS' surau (thanks for your eletrricity Mr Plus) and got my usual 5 oz.

We arrived Tg. Bin and scourged for fridge but none available. I placed that one bottle in my Coleman and Ida hid it under the receptionist table, leaving a sweet note. Then we were under the sun until 1:30 when we moved to the building where the meeting is supposed to be. I pressured the boy to surrender his room, expressing while Ida did her Zuhr and Asr solat. I got another 5 oz and placed them in the fridge, while freezing my blue ice (Medela's and Brite Ice). Both of the bottles stayed there while mommy had her meeting.

FInishing up meeting, I took over the poor boy's room again and expressed and got my another 5 oz before did my jamak. Collected them all together, stole some ice from the boys' fridge (mind you, it's all boys office, so the ladies are the gents too), plonked them in my coleman and put both of my frozen blue ices inside.

We stopped for early dinner at Machap. Then stopped again at Pagoh for Maghrib prayers where I (this PLUS's surau doesn't have eletric point, so on battery I was) unhook my bra in front of pairs of old women's eyes (one boldly asked me, mana baby nya?) and collected my 5 oz. Plonked them in the coleman.

Arrived home around 10:30 night. A journey of 18 hours to and fro down South. Collecting a total of 20 oz for Anna today. Praying that germs didn't get to the equipments unsterilled.

Cud I do it without Ida? Don't think so. SHe has been very supportive, finding places for me to hide my stuffs, calling here and there to see whether there are fridge available, waiting me up patiently, while I expressed about 15 mins each (and plus killing the mosquitoes on my arm while I was expressing!)

Don't think I have the nerve and time if it wasn't of her.

Hot

Why is my new Pink laptop from DELL is making my palms ache with its warmth (or rather HOTNESS) everytime I'm typing?

Read about DELL laptop burning, but not sure whether that's happening.
